A former art gallery in Perth’s heritage building ‘Old Technical College’ was refurbished by CDI and converted into a postgraduate learning centre for Curtin University, complete with a boardroom, two learning spaces, an AV gallery and breakout area. The recent completion of Curtin University’s new city-based location has been awarded a rare 6 Star Green Star – Interiors rating. The Green Star rating was determined by The Green Building Council of Australia, following a comprehensive review and assessment of the sustainability and environmental lifecycle of the building and interiors elements comprising of recycled and ecofriendly products and finishes including timber flooring. This is an achievement that CDI are incredibly proud of, as this is not only a feat in itself by being awarded a 6-star rating, but the added element of this being within a heritage listed building. This is a true testament to the industry we are in, and the emphasis on the economic and environmental benefits of fitout projects being sensitive to heritage and ecological sentiments.Based on data collected throughout CDI’s fitout, nine categories were reviewed and assessed including:

  • Management
  • Indoor environment quality
  • Energy
  • Transport
  • Water
  • Material
  • Land use and ecology
  • Emissions
  • Innovation
